Final of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux at Circuit Zolder

  • Champions Lauryssen and Derdaele aim for third victory of the season

  • Battle for the podium places remains very open and unpredictable

Zonhoven, 10 October 2024 – As the season draws to a close, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux is gearing up for its final round at Circuit Zolder, coinciding with the last race of the Belcar Endurance Championship. While the champions, Jan Lauryssen and Dylan Derdaele of Belgium Racing, have already been crowned during the previous round in France, the fight for the remaining podium spots is still wide open.

Lauryssen and Derdaele, having secured the title for Belgium Racing for the second consecutive season, are chasing their third victory this year. The team is also fielding a second Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) driven by Michael Cool and Sacha Norden, who will support their teammates in their quest for the overall Belgian endurance title. Derdaele and Lauryssen currently lead the Belcar standings and aim to bring the national title home to Lommel.

Fierce battle for podium spots

Although the top spot is sealed, the competition for the silver and bronze medals in the Porsche Endurance Trophy remains highly unpredictable. Several teams are still in the running, and the final rankings won’t be decided until after Sunday’s race.

Evren Yondem and Jarne Geussens (YDM-Racing) are contenders for the silver medal, needing to make up a 19-point deficit on Filip Teunkens (Q1 Trackracing). A second-place finish with the bonus of a fastest lap or pole position could make all the difference. Meanwhile, Mick, Tom, and Steve Meurrens of MM Racing, along with Arthur Peters and Kenny Herremans (Tip Top Racing by NGT), are all vying for third place. Peters and Herremans have already claimed the GTB class title in the Belcar Endurance Championship with their Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, but are eager for more success.

Other teams in the hunt include Wim Meulders and Rik Renmans (Speedlover), who, with the help of Rik's son Gilles Renmans, will be pushing their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992) for a spot on the podium.

Rounding out the field, Saber Management Racing will compete with a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport driven by Denis Vanmol and Julien Hody.

Race schedule

The weekend’s action begins on Saturday with a 45-minute free practice session at 9:05, followed by qualifying at 15:00. The final race, lasting 125 minutes, starts at 15:25 on Sunday, with the checkered flag expected at 17:30. Only then will the final standings of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux be determined.
